    Joseph DeGaetano (verified owner)

It’s been nearly a year since I bought this bike for my son and I (we) couldn’t be happier. In fact, I’d go so far as saying it was the PERFECT bike for him. I called Trailcraft and was able to talk to Brett personally about concerns over my son’s height and wanting him to be able to grow into the bike. Brett was able to accommodate us by suggesting that we purchase the 27.5 Maxwell but instead of funning the 27.5″ wheels, he would build it with 26″ wheels for my son’s height. That way, he could grow into the bike and eventually we could upgrade to the bigger wheels when his height warranted it. This ended up being the perfect situation. A year out from this purchase has seen my son crush an entire season of NICA races, earning 2nd place in the state, and over a dozen trips to Snowshoe Bike Park. The bike does everything well from xc racing to long adventure rides, to park riding. He even uses it at the local jump park. We are getting close to upgrading the fork to something a little bigger and burlier, probably a 140 27.5 Pike, and perhaps even putting those 27.5 wheels on the bike as Jack (my son) has grown a few inches over the past year. I never write reviews, but in this case, I feel so compelled to do so being that I don’t think we could have bought a better bike for my son. In all reality, I see this bike lasting him for another 2-3 years and not holding him back whatsoever. I highly recommend Trailcraft!

Lightweight and fast. Excellent bike for a accomplished mountain biker that is too small for adult sizes.

We live in Portland Oregon and purchased the maxwell 27.5 LTD with 26″ tubules wheels from Trailcraft. Right out of the box the bike was perfectly tuned and ready to ride. The only thing we needed to do was pump up the shocks and tires. Having had other lightweight bikes from Early Rider and Woom, the Trailcraft Maxwell was above and beyond in quality and workmanship of build. The biggest benefit of the Trailcraft is that they just ride so nicely for kids and soar off of the jumps. Having watched my son transition from other full suspension bikes to the Trailcraft Maxwell, he just progressed so quickly on the Trailcraft. He went from kinda clearing the jumps to effortlessly clearing in full control and grace. Having a bike that you feel confident riding and is secure on the downhill descents makes such a huge difference. He went from following his dad to leading the downhill charge and asking for more!!! If you are on the fence about purchasing a $2400+ bike for your kid, realize it is actually a value compared to other bike manufacturers who offer bikes in the 34lb range. A 28lb bike makes a huge difference for a 80lb kid climbing an hour + uphill. My son has rode this bike 1000’s of miles and other than a derailer alignment + tubules tire sealant, it is still going strong. We are upgrading to the 27.5″ rims this summer and expect to get 1 or 2 more seasons out of the bike. Thanks Trailcraft for the effort and support.

This is our third Trailcraft!!! We moved our daughter up from the Pinecraft 24 to the full suspension Maxwell 27.5 and couldn’t be happier. She’s pretty small (5’1″ and 85 lbs) and loves the bigger bike. She’s able to climb for miles because the 27.5″ tires glide over loose rocks/ruts. She’s also so much faster and more stable on the descents…I’m having a hard time keeping up with her. In fact, she won the co-ed division of the Vail Kids Adventure Games last weekend with her new bike! Trailcraft bikes are the absolute best and we’ll be moving our son up to a Maxwell 27.5 full suspension soon.
